Sanskrit — Class 9

उत्कर्षं ददाति = उन्नति देने वाली। Sanskrit bestows excellence — in this world (इह लोक) and the next (परलोक). One of the many epithets describing Sanskrit's qualities.

भक्तिं ददाति = भक्ति देने वाली। Sanskrit leads to devotion and spiritual upliftment. भक्ति, ज्ञान, कर्म — तीनों मार्गों का द्वार Sanskrit से होकर जाता है।

शुद्ध करने वाली / Refiner. Sanskrit purifies the mind and refines speech. संस्कृत = सम् + कृत = well-done, refined, perfected. The very name means "refined language."

Truth (सत्य), Auspiciousness (शिव/कल्याण), Beauty (सुंदर) — the three qualities that Sanskrit embodies. Also describes the highest ideals of Indian philosophy and aesthetics.

सुख का आधार धर्म है, धर्म का आधार अर्थ (धन) है। Kautilya's Arthashastra. धर्म, अर्थ, काम, मोक्ष — चतुर्विध पुरुषार्थ में अर्थ का महत्व। Financial literacy = dharmic necessity.

Compound Interest / चक्रवृद्धि ब्याज। मूलधन और ब्याज दोनों पर ब्याज मिलता है। Ch 2 में financial literacy — पैसा कैसे बढ़ता है — संस्कृत में समझाया गया है।

जो सभी प्राणियों में स्वयं को देखता है — वह ज्ञानी है। Universal empathy. Real wisdom = treating all beings with the same care as oneself. A core principle of Indian ethics.

Age is not the cause of brilliance (तेज). प्रतिभा का कारण आयु नहीं होती। Young people can achieve greatness. Reinforces that talent, not age, determines excellence.

Artificial Intelligence (AI). कृतक = artificial/man-made, बुद्धिः = intelligence. "मानवबुद्धेः सहकरी" = AI is a HELPER of human intelligence, not a replacement.

AI-generated fake image/video/audio that can mislead. Ch 5 discusses its misuse — for harassment and crime. Important to be aware of ethical risks of AI technology.

अपादान कारक — "से" (separation/cause). "कस्मात्?" के उत्तर में। उदा: मूषकः बिडालात् बिभेति = The mouse fears from the cat. Used for separation, source, cause.

Do only what your purified mind approves of. मन को शुद्ध रखकर ही कार्य करो। यदि मन मलिन है तो कार्य भी दूषित होगा। Ch 6 का मुख्य संदेश — नैतिक कार्य के लिए शुद्ध मन आवश्यक है।

Another's wealth should be considered like a blade of grass (worthless). Ch 7 — A boy finds money on the road; mother teaches him to return it. Honesty and non-covetousness are supreme values.

कर्ता तृतीया विभक्ति में, कर्म प्रथमा में, क्रिया कर्म के अनुसार। उदा: रामेण पाठः पठ्यते (Ram reads the lesson → The lesson is read by Ram). Ch 8 में विस्तार से प्रस्तुत।

Food gives happiness. अन्न (food) से आनन्द (joy) की प्राप्ति। Ch 8 में कर्मवाच्य (Passive Voice) सिखाया गया है। तैत्तिरीय उपनिषद से — "अन्नं ब्रह्म" — अन्न ही ब्रह्म है।

Suffixes expressing obligation — "should/must be done." तव्यत्: पठ+तव्यत् = पठितव्यम् (should be read). अनीयर्: पठ+अनीयर् = पठनीयम् (worth reading). मन: सदा सत्कर्मणा साध्नयम् = Mind should always be directed towards good deeds.

Good done should be repaid with good — this is the eternal law (Sanatana Dharma). Ch 9 — Story from Mahabharat's "Ekachakra" where Bhim helps a Brahmin family. Repaying kindness is a divine duty.

Salutation to the Arihants (Jain tradition) — those who have conquered inner enemies (anger, greed, ego, delusion). Represents the Jain prayer Navkar Mantra. Chapter focuses on values of non-violence and self-conquest.

Systematic study of Sanskrit phonetics — places of articulation (कण्ठ, तालु, मूर्धा, दंत, ओष्ठ), types of consonants (स्पर्श, अन्तःस्थ, ऊष्मा). Foundational for correct Sanskrit pronunciation. Based on Panini's Ashtadhyayi.
